Recently, staff from Tuath’s Customer Engagement, Sustainability, Housing and Sustainment management team visited the Habitat ReStore in Glasnevin, where we met with Niall McConkey, Retore Impact Manager to discuss how Tuath and ReStore could work together.
This new collaboration with Habitat for Humanity Ireland and their social enterprise ReStore, is a partnership that has real potential to benefit our residents, strengthen our sustainability efforts and reduce waste.
What ReStore Offers
ReStore accepts a wide range of surplus building materials, fixtures, appliances, flooring, lighting and furniture from both home and office settings. This includes items such as timber, tiles, tools, kitchen units, white‑goods, carpets, lighting, paint and good‑quality furniture. These materials are then made available at affordable prices to individuals and community groups, helping to reduce waste and support those who need it most. By giving these items a second life, fewer materials end up in landfill, supporting both our sustainability goals and the wider community.
Why This Partnership Matters
A collaboration with ReStore aligns strongly with Tuath’s sustainability, sustainment and customer engagement goals and offers practical support for residents who may be setting up or maintaining their homes.
There are currently Habitat ReStores open in Glasnevin, Drogheda, Belfast, Lisburn, Ballymena, Newry, Newtownards and Lisnagelvin, with plans to open a new store in Athlone later this year.
Tuath Housing has officially launched its Resident Engagement Strategy 2026–2029, with three simultaneous events taking place in Dublin, Navan and Cork.
The strategy was formally launched by Board Chair Richard Pike, who emphasised the central role of resident voice in shaping Tuath’s work:
“This strategy is grounded in a simple but powerful belief: the voices of our residents matter.”
Speaking at the launch, Chief Operations Officer and Deputy CEO Bronagh D’Arcy highlighted the significance of the strategy as a reflection of both organisational priorities and the voices of residents:
“This strategy reflects not only our organisational priorities, but the voices, experiences and insights of our residents.”
DeVerdon Place, Malahide Rd, Dublin
Developed through extensive engagement, the strategy was co-written by residents and staff, supported by a national consultation survey completed by over 2,300 households. A dedicated Strategy Writing Group met multiple times over the past year to ensure resident perspectives were embedded throughout.
The strategy builds on the achievements of Tuath’s first Tenant Engagement Strategy (2022–2025), during which nearly all objectives were completed or progressed, alongside key initiatives such as resident feedback panels, community partnerships, and the establishment of the Tuath Foundation.

Over the next three years, Tuath will focus on three core priorities:
Communicate: Deliver clear, accessible and transparent communication, including a “You said, we did” approach
Involve: Provide meaningful opportunities for residents to influence decision-making
Empower: Support resident leadership, skills development and inclusive participation across communities
Springville House, Ballintemple, Co. Cork
With over 17,500 homes and 40,000 residents nationwide, the strategy sets out a structured approach to engagement through Customer and Community frameworks, alongside strengthened governance, performance reporting, and the development of a new Resident Voice and Engagement Panel.
The launch also acknowledged the vital contributions of residents and staff who helped shape the strategy.
This new strategy reinforces Tuath’s commitment to working in partnership with residents to deliver high-quality housing services and to support strong, connected communities across Ireland.

The results of a survey carried out during quarter 1 of 2026 have just been published, detailing residents’ experiences of how Tuath delivers key services and maintains its homes.
The survey reveals that almost nine out of ten residents are satisfied with the overall quality of their home (90%) and that over eight out of ten residents (85%) are satisfied with the overall service provided by Tuath Housing.
Carrying out this survey is just part of the work Tuath Housing does to involve residents in developing services. As well as publishing the results of the survey, Tuath Housing plans to put the findings to good use by working with residents to further improve the services provided to them.

A funding initiative for social housing residents and community groups has delivered more than €4 in social value for every €1 invested in its first year, a new report shows.
The Tuath Foundation was established in April 2025 to enhance quality of life and encourage social inclusion and community-building for residents of Tuath Housing, Ireland’s largest Approved Housing Body. The Foundation’s performance across the five funding streams was independently evaluated by Rose Regeneration, an evaluation consultant supporting voluntary and community organisations, using internationally accredited Social Return on Investment methodology.
The analysis found consistently strong returns across all programmes, demonstrating the Foundation’s significant benefits generated for residents and communities during its first year.
Key findings:
The Digital Support Fund delivered €4.46 in social value for every €1 invested
The Community Fund delivered €4.29 for every €1 invested
The Climate Action Fund delivered €4.17 for every €1 invested
The New Horizons Education Bursary delivered €4.12 for every €1 invested
The Social Inclusion and Diversity Fund is forecast to deliver €4.15 for every €1 invested
Social value is the quantifiable positive impact an initiative or organisation has on society beyond its financial bottom line. Overall, the report demonstrates a strong return on investment, with the Foundation contributing to improved wellbeing, reduced social isolation, increased skills and employment opportunities and stronger, more connected communities.
“People and communities thrive when you invest in them”
Speaking at the launch of the report, Tuath Foundation Chair Prof Paddy Gray said: “It could not be more clear; people and communities thrive when you invest in them. This report demonstrates the real impact of the Tuath Foundation in the year since its launch, both in financial terms and through the stories from our residents right across the country. We are proud to see such strong social value being delivered and remain committed to building brighter futures for our residents.”
Among those who shared their stories at the event was Tuath resident Leeza Kane, who worked with neighbours at Aldborough Manor and Hawkins Wood in Greystones, Co. Wicklow to set up a community garden. Their project was supported by the Foundation’s Climate Action Fund.
“I have loved getting outdoors, getting my hands dirty and learning how to grow vegetables. It’s also been a great opportunity to get to know people locally, so the social benefit is significant. Climate and sustainability are big issues for us all, so it’s been wonderful to have the support of the Tuath Foundation on this project.”
Tuath Foundation funding is open to Tuath residents, residents’ groups, community organisations, and voluntary groups. Applications for the various funds will open at different intervals throughout the year. Residents and community groups can find more information and apply via the Tuath Housing website at www.tuathhousing.ie.
The Mayor of Drogheda has cut the ribbon on a new community play area at Rampart Green the town. North and East Housing Association (NEHA) and Tuath Housing officially opened the new community amenity on Wednesday 8 April in the presence of Mayor Michelle Hall, invited guests and local residents.
The project was shaped directly by residents of Rampart Green, a mixed community of more than 100 homes owned by Tuath Housing and NEHA. Through surveys and in person engagement, families highlighted the need for safe play areas, goal posts, sensory play features, accessible seating, and improved planting. These priorities informed the final design, which includes new play equipment, two goal posts, sensory elements, wheelchair accessible picnic tables, standard benches, and enhanced landscaping. KOMPAN carried out the installation of the play equipment and will provide ongoing safety checks, ensuring the facility is maintained to a high standard for families in Rampart Green.
The works followed a formal tender process issued in 2025 that required inclusive design, age-appropriate play equipment, landscaping, surfacing, and accessible installation on the existing communal green. Planning permission was granted for the playground, goal posts, and associated site works, confirming the legal ownership of the green and completion of required public notices.
Building community spirit
The development was supported by the Housing Finance Agency’s Social Investment Fund, with a combined investment of approximately €30,000 from the Fund and the partner organisations. North and East Housing and Tuath Housing also contributed additional enhancement works to complete the facility.
Elaine Bruton, Tenant Services & Engagement Manager NEHA shares: “By working closely with residents and with our partners in Tuath Housing, we have been able to deliver a play area that improves safety, supports inclusion, and strengthens the sense of community on the green. We are delighted to see this space being opened and we look forward to seeing children and families enjoy it for many years to come.”
Bronagh D’Arcy, Deputy Chief Executive, Tuath Housing, said: “We at Tuath are very grateful to our partners at NEHA and to the Housing Finance Agency, without whom this new play area wouldn’t have been built. We wish the local residents many happy days using this amenity.”

Tuath is delighted to share that the Tuath Foundation has won the category ‘Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative of the Year’ at the Business Post National Property Awards.
Tuath Foundation – Building Brighter Futures
The Tuath Foundation is a dedicated initiative to enhance resident and community engagement by integrating new and existing support programmes provided by Tuath Housing under one umbrella.
From the judges of the National Property Awards:
‘For this category, the judges didn’t need a long debate or a drawn-out shortlist. One entry stood head and shoulders above the rest. It set the benchmark, plain and simple. So rather than create a shortlist for the sake of it, the judges made the decision and named a clear winner. ‘
Tuath is proud to launch our first Tuath Resident Feedback Panels Annual Report.
In 2025, residents came together across four dedicated panels (Property Services, Customer Service, Age Friendly, and an Editorial panel) to share their experiences and shape meaningful improvements in how we deliver our services.
Shaping Tuath Services “Your Voice in Action”
2025 has been a milestone year in strengthening collaboration between Tuath Housing and residents. Through four active resident engagement feedback panels, residents have influenced real improvements in services, publications, communication, customer service, property services and repairs, and age-friendly engagement. Each panel has provided valuable insights, ensuring that decisions across the organisation are rooted in lived experience. Across all panels, both attendance and contribution were consistently high, demonstrating the commitment and impact of residents nationwide.
This inaugural report highlights the impact of their insights, from strengthening communication to enhancing maintenance and ensuring our services remain inclusive and accessible for all ages.
A sincere thank you to every resident who contributed to our first year of panels. Your voice is helping us build a more responsive and resident‑centred housing service.
Tuath’s ‘Heartbeat Heroes’ is a pioneering, resident‑centred community safety initiative designed to expand access to life‑saving defibrillators and empower residents with essential CPR/AED skills. Delivered by Tuath Housing’s Community Engagement Team between January and November 2025, the project was inspired by a real medical emergency in which a defibrillator saved a resident’s life. This moment became the catalyst for a national programme in 2025 focused on safety, inclusion, and community resilience.
Through the Tuath Heartbeat Heroes project, AED defibrillators were installed across 10 housing schemes nationwide and supported by community‑led events and awareness campaigns. Over 100 residents across the 10 housing developments gained hands-on skills and knowledge through certified AED training sessions.
For many, it was their first experience learning how to save a life.
