Tuath’s ‘Heartbeat Heroes’ is a pioneering, resident‑centred community safety initiative designed to expand access to life‑saving defibrillators and empower residents with essential CPR/AED skills. Delivered by Tuath Housing’s Community Engagement Team between January and November 2025, the project was inspired by a real medical emergency in which a defibrillator saved a resident’s life. This moment became the catalyst for a national programme in 2025 focused on safety, inclusion, and community resilience.

Through the Tuath Heartbeat Heroes project, AED defibrillators were installed across 10 housing schemes nationwide and supported by community‑led events and awareness campaigns. Over 100 residents across the 10 housing developments gained hands-on skills and knowledge through certified AED training sessions.

For many, it was their first experience learning how to save a life.
