Tuath, in agreement with the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage
and Dublin City Council (DCC), has established the following criteria for determining
local connection. The Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage has
provided approval in principle (AIP) to this allocation plan and is subject to full
Ministerial approval.
According to the plan, applicants must meet at least one of the criteria below and be
able to provide appropriate proof.
Eligibility criteria:
a) Location of current residence and residency history:
Applicants (or in the case of joint applicants, at least one applicant) currently living
within four Local Electoral Areas of Dublin City, namely the North Inner City, South-East
Inner City, South-West Inner City and Cabra–Glasnevin LEAs, will be prioritised to
reflect local housing need and support community continuity. Applicants may also
qualify under this criterion by demonstrating a proven residency history within these
areas for at least 24 months within the past five years.
b) Proximity to employment:
Applicant’s (or in the case of joint applicants, at least one applicant) place of work is
located within a 2km radius of the Montpelier housing development.
c) Proximity to educational establishments:
Applicants with household members attending an educational establishment within a
2km radius of the Montpelier housing development.
To be eligible for a Cost Rental home, you need to be able to prove the following:
- Your net household income is below €66,000 per annum for Dublin or less than
€59,000 for elsewhere in the country
- You are not in receipt of any social housing supports e.g. HAP or Rent
Supplement
- You do not own a property in Ireland or elsewhere
- Your household size matches the size of the property advertised
- You can afford to pay the cost rent for the home, meaning that your rent
charge does not come to more than 35% of your net household income*
- Your household has only entered one application for a specific Cost Rental
property
- You currently reside in Ireland – please note that valid documentation regarding
residency status is required, for example a Passport or valid IRP
