Tuath launches working group to shape Tenant Engagement Strategy 2026-2029

Last month, Tuath held the first meeting of our new Engagement Strategy Working Group 2026-2029. Residents from across the country and staff from each Tuath department are taking part in this milestone project which builds on the strong foundations laid by Tuath’s inaugural Tenant Engagement Strategy 2022–2026. The Strategy has helped Tuath to deliver meaningful connections and steadily grow our approach to tenant engagement.

Over the past three years, Tuath has worked on achieving the seven objectives of the strategy to Involve, Enable, Communicate, Build, Integrate, Embed and Empower our residents in tenant engagement opportunities.

Highlights and achievements of the Tenant Engagement Strategy 2022- 2025 include:

Tuath Foundation launch
We established the Tuath Foundation to empower residents and communities through five dedicated funding streams – the Tuath Education Bursary, Tuath Community Fund, Climate Action Fund, Digital Support Fund, and the Social Inclusion and Diversity Fund.

Resident Feedback Panels
Four resident-led panels were introduced to ensure meaningful input across key areas: Property Services, Customer Service, Editorial, and Age Friendly representation.

Education support – “New Horizons Bursary”
In 2023, Tuath Housing proudly introduced the New Horizons Education Bursary, reinforcing our dedication to empowering residents through learning and personal development. This bursary provides financial support for accredited educational and self-improvement programmes. 79 residents have been supported to date and an additional 20–30 residents are expected to be supported by the Fund by 2025.

Tuath Community Fund
Since 2022, the Tuath Community Fund has supported 63 community-led projects, providing  funding to charitable organisations, voluntary groups, residents’ associations, and other grassroots initiatives. This fund continues to strengthen local connections, promote inclusion, and enhance community connections across our neighbourhoods.

Residents’ Groups nationwide
Tuath now supports 24 active Residents’ Groups across Ireland and has published a comprehensive Residents’ Group Handbook to guide and inspire community leadership.

Age Friendly Ireland Accreditation
In 2023, Tuath proudly earned recognition as an Age Friendly Business, reflecting our deepened commitment to supporting older residents.

Tenant Engagement Strategy
Our strategy fosters community spirit and integration through a vibrant calendar of events and initiatives in Tuath communities such as Neighbours’ Day, Street Feasts, planting projects, Positive Ageing Week, consultation clinics, summer camps, and seasonal celebrations like Easter, Halloween, and Christmas.

Enhanced digital communication
Tuath’s digital engagement continues to grow with the launch of a monthly bulletin, the new Tenant Engagement & Community Hub on the Tuath website alongside the introduction of our Instagram page, creating more dynamic, accessible, and interactive ways to connect with residents and share updates.

Tenant Engagement Collaboration
Tuath is a member of the Irish Tenant Engagement Network (ITEN) which brings together tenant engagement staff from Approved Housing Bodies (AHBs) across Ireland to champion best practices in tenant engagement. In 2024, ITEN published research aimed at developing an evidence-based framework that will strengthen and guide tenant engagement nationwide.

New Strategy 2026–2029

Looking ahead, Tuath’s 2026–2029 strategy will focus on building more inclusive and participatory customer and community frameworks that empower residents to actively shape decisions, influence service improvements, and ensure every voice is heard within their community.

At Tuath, we remain committed to listening, learning, and acting on feedback to continuously improve our services and support vibrant, sustainable communities. Meaningful two-way dialogue is at the heart of our mission.

In the coming weeks, Tuath will launch a national resident consultation survey.  Tuath will ask residents to help the working group by hearing from as many residents as possible on how they would like to shape the next Engagement Strategy.
