Tuath Housing Association will have allocated and let 1,200 homes in the last three months of 2024, granting the Christmas wish of a secure and affordable home to some 2,500 residents across Ireland.

Around 500 homes were allocated in December alone, with lettings in Dublin, Waterford, Cork, Louth and many other locations. Of the new homes allocated, over 300 were cost rental homes.

Cost rental homes are designed to ensure long-term affordability and security of tenure. Under the cost rental initiative, rents for the new homes must be a minimum of 25 per cent below the local area average rent for similar, new property types.

By the end of 2024, Tuath Housing will have 15,000 homes under its management, providing secure housing to more than 38,000 residents nationwide.

Tuath is also on track to continue making an impact across Ireland with affordable high quality housing stock, with a further 3,600 homes in development.

Sean O’Connor, CEO of Tuath Housing, said that Tuath is looking forward to its continued work with valued partners to further address Ireland’s urgent housing needs.

He hopes that the incoming government continues to support investment into social housing delivery and that the issue of housing remains at the top of the Government’s agenda.

“We are calling on the incoming government to prioritise the delivery of social and cost rental homes in the years ahead. Our collaborative approach means we will remain committed to continuing to provide good quality, secure and well managed homes that people can afford,” he said.
