Minister Visits New Homes for Families in Wexford
Minister for Housing, Darragh O’Brien visited County Wexford on Friday including a stop off at a Tuath development at Forgelands, Enniscorthy
The Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage Darragh O’Brien today visited a recently completed 59 home development delivered by Tuath Housing Association in partnership with Wexford County Council at Forgelands, Enniscorthy. The visit was part of a wider tour by the Minister to County Wexford on the day.
All 59 homes at the Forgelands are to be allocated by Tuath Housing, to people from the Wexford County Council housing waiting list. To date, 41 of the homes have been let, with the final phase of 18 homes recently completed and soon to be let. Tuath is delighted to have worked in partnership with the Council and developers, Adamar Developments Ltd, on this scheme consisting of 3 & 4-bed houses coupled with 2-bed apartments and 3-bed duplex units. These new homes have been funded via private finance from the Housing Finance Agency and a loan from the Department of Housing. The average cost of a home in the Forgelands development was approximately €218,000, representing excellent value for money.
The Forgelands development will extend to over 400 homes once completed and will include recreational amenities for young families to enjoy. It is located near to Enniscorthy, giving tenants access to a wide range of amenities and, with its close proximity to the M11, it is ideal for commutes to nearby towns. Tuath already manages 200 homes throughout the county with a further 68 homes on site in Gorey due for delivery across 2022 and 2023. Tuath currently has over 7,500 homes in management nationwide and with a strong pipeline in place are on course to deliver 1,700 homes in 2021.
