The Woodside development on the Enniskerry Road in Stepaside is the first purpose-built cost rental development in Ireland. The development includes 50 cost rental homes and 105 social homes which are managed by both Respond and Tuath. The homes have been delivered on land the Council provided, supported by the Housing Agency under the land aggregation scheme. The project is the result of an innovative collaboration between Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, the Dept. of Housing, the Housing Finance Agency, the Housing Agency, Respond and Tuath. Woodside, as a pilot scheme for the introduction of a new form of tenure into the Irish housing market, has demonstrated to the government that this type of cost rental scheme can work in providing a solution to a significant gap in the market.

The development is also an exceptional example of how innovation in construction and overall site design can be achieved. Great emphasis was placed at the early design stage on developing a site layout that maximised sunlight and solar gain to each of the units. Main contractors Duggan Brothers have combined traditional build with the best of contemporary building practice to offer exceptional sustainable homes. This has resulted in A-rated homes where heating costs are a fraction of those built 10 or more years ago. High performance results have been achieved using systems that are low maintenance, simple to operate, and more importantly, sustainable.
